Remember when this was a trend on Facebook for a while? I thought it was really hilarious to see who people thought they looked like. Why is this on my mind today? I don’t know, but here are the two celebrities I’ve been compared to most often. Kind of a disparate pair in my opinion.
Elizabeth Taylor.
and
Jeaneane Garofalo.
The first time anyone told me I looked like Jeanane Garofalo, I was surprised, a little offended and thought it was just one weird person’s opinion. Then it happened again. At the mall. Unsolicited. I was just picking up something I had engraved at things remembered and this woman standing by me said, “Oh my gosh, you really look like that comedian. You know the one in Romy and Michelle.” To which I snarled at her and walked away.
The Elizabeth Taylor comparisons are more flattering. Obviously. 😉
Ducks, in case you are wondering, looks like, according to my college best friend, “if Charlie Sheen and Chandler from Friends had a baby.” Umm…. could he be any more WINNING? 😉

Or I suppose alternatively:

What about you? Who have you been told you look like? Do you agree or disagree? Any horror stories?
PS I should add my horror story. Once I mentioned jokingly to one of my husband’s college roommates that the Rock is probably my cousin (since he’s Samoan and all). He said, “I can kind of see that…in the face.” Ouch. I mean the Rock is a good-looking man, but HE’S A BOY. And not a dainty one. He’s a big angry wrestling boy. Zing.
haha this made me laugh! Because I have reddish hair I get compared to every red-haired actress/celebrity ever. The only time I was ever offended being compared to someone was when my then 4 year old brother (now 10) pointed to a national enquirer cover of a very intoxicated and hopped up Mary Kate Olsen and said “why is Katie on the cover of that magazine???” My mom thought it was hysterical and bought the issue and told me the story….fabulous times 😉
Hahaha – that’s too funny (re: Mary Kate). But I envy your red hair. I’ve become more and more of a redhead fan as I’ve gotten older. 🙂
When Katharine McPhee was popular I got a ton of her, and now I get Ginnifer Goodwin a lot. Once I got Amanda Bynes and I thought that was offensive. Probably because we all have faces with chubby cheeks that make us look like twelve year olds. Elizabeth Taylor is a great one! I got Grace Kelly once, and only once, but I still cling to it.
I LOVE Ginnifer Goodwin…and I so don’t see Amanda Bynes for you, so don’t worry! 😉
My husband thinks my college best friend looks like Amanda Bynes. I don’t think she liked that suggestion either.
Ooooh I love this post! I think it’s so neat when us normal people kinda look like celebs (or a celeb’s sibling!) I am told all.the.time. that I look like Anne Hathaway – especially from the Princess Diaries. I’m always like, “Uh, before the makeover or after?” Ha ha Hopefully after!
After I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic, I noticed the actress Krysten Ritter. With the bangs (and esp when I dye my hair darker), I totally think we could be sisters!
You DO look a lot like Krysten Ritter – very nice. She is a pretty girl (although not what I had pictured Suze to look like in that movie!).
I get the “Classmates.com” girl ALL the time! Is she famous? probably not, but that girl is EVERYWHERE with MY face! It’s maddening, but I just laugh at it and tell people “I wish I got the paycheck”… then she’d look like me. 😉 and I think Jeanane Garofalo is fantastic… sure Liz was more of the traditional “beauty”, but Jeanane is witty and so smart! I’d hate to get in to a philosophy conversation with her b/c I know I’d lose… but I think that’s awesome!
That’s true – Jeanane is a smart cookie. And I do try to prefer substance over style. 😉
I can see the Classmates.com girl for you.
Haha, I’ve had random comparisons from Mary Louise Masterantonio to Zhang Ziyi. Yeah. Ok I don’t know if you were joking or not, but are you Samoan because that’s kinda awesome.
xoxo,
Chic ‘n Cheap Living
I’m one-fourth Samoan. The rest of me is a mix of German, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, etc., but my mom’s mother was born in Samoa and grew up there and in Hawaii.
Umm…the fact that you look like the girl that’s going to be Mulan (and also that is gorgeous!) is awesome. 🙂
Elizabeth Taylor is absolutely gorgeous! Major compliment!
I don’t really look like anyone anymore. I was told, over the years, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Laura Linney. I consider both huge compliments!
Oooh, I love Laura Linney! 🙂
when I was little (like 10) and my mouth was too big for my face (helloooo puberty) I was told that I looked like julia roberts. When the star wars movies started coming out, a few peeps told me I looked like Natalie Portman, and that happened again when V for Vendetta came out.
I can totally see the elizabeth taylor comparison for you!
I can see that – maybe a mixture of the two (obviously, you’re much more beautiful though!)! 🙂
